  • Ok I really should be in bed by now but for some unknown reason I’m
still up.  This morning as I was driving Kate downtown for her
interview with an INS (that’s Immigration and Naturalization Services)
officer, we witnessed something that was both dramatic and
nerve-wrecking.  As we were coming down from I-85 approaching exit
249C I believe, we heard some loud pops that sounded like firecrackers
going off.  By the 2nd pop I noticed an old red sedan (couldn’t
make out the model) parked in middle of the highway with a black man
pointing something in several different directions (including ours) and
that’s when I heard the 3rd pop.  Kate and I both were
shocked/surprised and I instinctively ducked my head a little thinking
he was shooting at us.  Soon after the 3rd shot was fired the man
got back in the car and restarted his engines.  I wasn’t about to
slow down and check him out so we along with everyone else drove by
quickly (as traffic allowed) and I saw him with my rear view mirror
getting off the exit right before G-Tech exit .  That was a scary
    and crazy encounter.

I’m not sure if Kate thought much about it afterwards but I couldn’t
get my mind off it all day.  I was thankful nothing happened to us
and hopefully no one else was injured either.  However it was
difficult to imagine what would’ve happened if he had accidentally shot
me or worse yet, Kate.  Truly, all of us are in God’s hands and we
never know when it’s our time to die.  Fascinating how an incident
in a split second could change my thoughts about new birth/new life to
    death and mortality.

On a lighter note, I just realized today that our daughter’s due date
is next Friday the 13th!  Hmm…  she better not be a
    nightmare for us!

Who else watched the Rose Bowl on Wednesday?  I wished it would’ve
went into OT just like the PSU-FSU game.  What an amazing game!!!!

My Aussie friend Sam is making home brewed beer and ale like Drew
Carey.  Wish I could do the same to make some root beer…
